If you were looking for a fun night of mixed martial arts (MMA) heading into a UFC-less stretch of September, last night (Fri., Sept. 11, 2015), AXS TV was the place to be.
That's because Texas-based MMA promotion Legacy Fighting Championships hosted its Legacy FC 45 card, which took place inside Hard Rock Casino in Tulsa, Okla., featuring a Welterweight main event of Ed Cline vs. JC Cottrell.
In a blistering 90 seconds of back-and-forth action that saw both men swing for the fences, and Cline nearly cinch up a guillotine choke on the submission ace Cottrell, it was the latter who was left standing after a brilliant standing rear-naked choke finish at 1:18 of the first round.
In the co-main event, Blackzilian Featherweight prospect Caio Uruguai flustered and trounced the Oklahoma native James Warren over the majority of the first frame. Uruguai was simply the more accurate fighter as he put an exclamation point on their scrap in the final seconds, lighting up Warren with a front-kick to the face.
Also on the card were entertaining tussles pitting women's Strawweights Kaline Medeiros vs. Kathina Catron and a 195-pound catchweight bout consisting of Bilal Williams vs. Canaan Grisby.
