"The Doctor" is making his long-awaited return to GLORY.
Giorgio Petrosyan (78-2-1) will headline GLORY 25 in Manza, Italy, on Nov. 6, 2015, inside The Palalper against an opponent to be named, according to a recent press release from the kickboxing promotion.
Petrosyan, 32, makes his return to the GLORY ring after almost a two-year absence. The Armenian kickboxer was upset by Andy Ristie in the semifinal round of the four-man tournament at GLORY 12 in New York back in November of 2013, suffering the first knockout loss of his career.
The revered fighter, known for his technical prowess and excellent defense, returned to action this past January in Italy, winning a pair of decisions over Erkan Varol and Enriko Kehl.
"Giorgio is one of the best pound-for-pound strikers on the planet. In fact, he ranks among the very best of all time across [all] combat sports," said GLORY CEO Jon Franklin. "Fans worldwide will once again get to see 'The Doctor' go to work. At GLORY 25 he'll be facing a top lightweight on his home soil of Italy. This is a huge fight for Petrosyan and this event will be very special."
Also on the GLORY 25 card will be a one-night four-man tournament in the welterweight division, with the winner getting a future title shot against current champion Nieky Holzken.
