It's not Bryan Caraway, but at least he gets to fight in front of his hometown fans.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bantamweight whiz-kid Thomas Almeida, who recently inked a new five-fight deal with the world's largest mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion, returns to action against Anthony Birchak at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 77 event on Nov. 7, 2015, inside Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
UFC announced the 135-pound pairing on Wednesday night.
Almeida (19-0) has a staggering 18 finishes in 19 wins, 15 of them by way of knockout or technical knockout. That includes longtime veteran Brad Pickett at UFC 189, a fight that also proved "Thominhas" can take a punch and battle back from adversity.
Birchak (12-2) may not be enjoying the same hype as his Brazilian counterpart, but is equally dangerous, finishing 10 of 12 wins spread across a near-equal ratio of knockouts and submissions. "El Toro" was last seen beating the brakes off Joe Soto in New Orleans.
Fun fight.
UFC Fight Night 77 will be headlined by the middleweight rubber match pitting Vitor Belfort opposite Dan Henderson. In the FOX Sports 1 co-main event, Glover Teixeira tries to get back into the light heavyweight title hunt against the venerable Pat Cummins.
