Top flyweight contender John Dodson failed to dethrone Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 125-pound kingpin Demetrious Johnson (again) at last weekend's (Sat., Sept. 5, 2015) UFC 191 pay-per-view (PPV) event in Las Vegas, Nevada.
But don't you dare blame his loss (see it) on anyone other than "The Magician," as Dodson fired back at angry fans who were quick to point out that he may have had his mind somewhere else on fight night. Particularly on his newborn daughter and maybe even celebrating his mother's birthday.
"Everyone, I lost the fight cuz I didn't fight to my full potential. It's something I have to live with for the rest of my life and y'all can bad mouth me all you want but do me a favor please keep my mom and my newborn daughter outta y'all mouth. They didn't do anything to deserve your hatred. I do and I take responsibility for it. Thank you I appreciate your hate towards me losing. Have a nice day."
A few days before stepping into the Octagon against "Mighty Mouse," Dodson had to make a U-turn and head back to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to witness the birth of his daughter. Something every other father-to-be probably would have done in the same situation.
Then, the day before their title fight rematch, Dodson was celebrating his mother's birthday party in "Sin City." But as evidenced by this photo, he wasn't exactly popping bottles and dancing the night way.
In fact, during the post-fight presser (video replay here), "The Magician" offered up no excuses and downright admitted he couldn't do anything to stop the dominant champion.
Which begs the question: If Dodson isn't making excuses for his loss to "Mighty Mouse," why are fans?
