Submission! Glover Teixeira vs Ovince St-Preux full fight video highlights from UFC 'Nashville' last night

It wasn't an easy path to victory, but Brazilian bruiser Glover Teixeira stopped a two fight losing streak in Nashville, Tenn., last night (Sat., Aug. 8, 2015), choking out his opponent in the main event of UFC Fight Night 73.

Teixeira was facing a very game Ovince Saint Preux, who entered the fight with consecutive first round knockouts against Mauricio Rua and Patrick Cummins.

The power of "OSP" came in to play early as he dropped Teixeira with a brutal body kick, but the Brazilian survived and then used his formidable wresting to take the fight to the mat. Early in the fight Saint Preux was able to get up fairly often whenever he was taken down by Teixeira, who clearly wanted to contest the match in the Brazilian jiu-jitsu department.

Saint Preux was fatigued headed into the second round, landing fewer punches and getting taken down more easily. Several times, however, "OSP" escaped by either giving up his back or fighting for an underhook and using the fence on his back to wall walk.

The third round, however, proved to be too much for the Knoxville, Tenn., native, who couldn't keep off his back and seemed to be completely spent from fighting off takedown attempts in the previous rounds. Teixeira mounted once again, landing vicious ground and pound that seemed in danger of stopping the fight.

Saint Preux rolled onto his stomach as he had done in the first round, but this time could not escape as the vice grip of Teixeira closed around his neck. "OSP" appeared ready to tap but decided to wait for the lights to go out instead.

With the rear-naked choke submission at 3:10 of round three, Teixeira moves his professional mixed martial arts (MMA) record to 23-4 and puts himself back "in the mix" at 205 pounds. Saint Preux, meanwhile, drops to 18-7, losing by submission for just the first time in his seven years as a professional MMA combatant.
