Surprise! (not really)
Now that Robbie Lawler has been asked to defend his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight title against Carlos Condit in the UFC 193 pay-per-view (PPV) main event (full report here), former division kingpin Johny Hendricks will settle for top division contender Tyron Woodley.
Not that he wanted any part of that fight, and is probably perturbed over the recent matchmaking since he holds a 2013 win over "The Natural Born Killer," but that's the way the "Chosen" cookie crumbles.
They'll do the deed on the UFC 192 PPV card, locked and loaded for the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, on Oct. 3, 2015. Woodley (15-3) is coming off a split-decision win over Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 183, while Hendricks (17-3) turned away Matt Brown back in March.
Who takes it?
UFC 192 will be headlined by the light heavyweight title fight pitting newly-crowned champion Daniel Cormier against former division No. 1 contender Alexander Gustafsson. Elsewhere on the card, Rashad Evans returns from injury to tangle with Ryan Bader.
