Rory Markham is back behind bars following charges of aggravated assault, according to a report from Sherdog.com.
The former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter was arrested last night (Fri., Aug. 28, 2015) in Chicago, Ill., Cook County Sheriff Department records indicate. Bail has been set at $50,000, and Markham will appear in court to face the charges on Sept. 17, 2015, in Bridgeview, a suburb of Chicago.
Things have not gone well for the 33-year-old former mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter, who was last seen in the Octagon in 2010 suffering a technical knockout loss to Nate Diaz.
Markham was arrested on domestic battery charges in Chicago on Nov. 2, 2013, and earlier that same year was picked up by police in Iowa for felony assault.
Prior to making his Octagon debut, Markham competed in the International Fight League (IFL) as a member of Pat Miletich's "Quad Cities Silverbacks." He made a splash in his first UFC fight scoring a "Knockout of the Night" stoppage of Brodie Farber at UFC Fight Night 14.
After getting cut by UFC for back-to-back losses and coming in six pounds overweight against Diaz, Markham was briefly inked to fight Steve Carl at Bellator 26 in 2010. However, Markham was forced to pull out after not getting medical clearance to fight.
Two other bouts were booked at Titan FC and Battle Xtreme Championship, but neither of those fights materialized. His professional MMA record stands at 16-6.
