UFC 193's Holly Holm fears 'everything' about Ronda Rousey, but claims 'Rowdy' is 'beatable'

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's Bantamweight contender Holly Holm is under no illusions that she's up against a difficult challenge when it comes to dethroning current champion Ronda Rousey, especially considering president Dana White announced yesterday the date for that fight is six weeks sooner than previously thought.

In fact, Holm admitted on Inside MMA she has a healthy dose of fear when it comes to facing the undefeated (12-0) mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter, who has finished every opponent she has ever faced and allowed just one to escape the first round.

"She's got a well-rounded game. I'm not going in there thinking, 'oh I only have to worry about, you know, grappling.' I do know she has knockout power so I don't feel like you guys are going to see what you've seen before with her. I fear everything about her. Standup, ground, clinch, all that. And I feel like that's the way you need to be with any fighter."

It can't have helped Holm's confidence that the fighter -- also undefeated in her MMA career (9-0) -- opened as a +600 underdog to Rousey when the fight was announced. But, Holm told Inside MMA that she's been the underdog many times in her boxing career and that will actually help her adjust to the pressure.

"There's things that transfer over [from boxing] and things that don't. There's things from my boxing career that I had to let go of that would not work, especially in this fight. I mean, you can't just stand there and do inside boxing with someone who's very good at judo."

Holm also admitted she has a lot to work on for her ground game to feel mentally ready for the fight against Rousey, adding she hasn't fought anybody in the Top 5 in UFC. Calling is a "huge, giant leap," Holm said she's nevertheless going to UFC 193 to win and will fight the confidence that winning is possible.

But, is Rousey beatable?

"Everybody's beatable. Is it going to be hard as heck? Absolutely. It's going to be the hardest fight of my career. I have to absolutely do everything right from the beginning to the end of the fight. Is it going to be easy? No, that is not what I'm saying. But I'm going in there to win and it's very possible."

UFC 193 goes "Down Under" on Nov. 14, 2015, at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia. To check out the latest UFC 193: "Rousey vs. Holm" fight card and rumors click here.
