FINALLY!
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos will at long last have a chance to silence the chatter from 265-pound rival Alistair Overeem when they throw hands at the UFC on FOX 17 mixed martial arts (MMA) event on Dec. 19, 2015 inside Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.
UFC announced the booking on Tuesday.
The surgically-repaired Dos Santos (17-3) has been riding the pine since last December due to a bum knee (among other things). Prior to his injury woes, "Cigano" took a close decision win over Stipe Miocic, his lone bout since getting whooped by Cain Velasquez back in 2013.
Ring rust?
Overeem (39-14, 1 NC), meanwhile, is looking to win his third straight fight after consecutive wins over Stefan Struve and Roy Nelson. The hot-and-cold "Demolition Man" could find himself right back in the title hunt with a victory over the hard-hitting Brazilian.
Either way, this is going to be a fun fight!
UFC on FOX 17 will be headlined by reigning lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos, who defends his world title for the first time ever in a rematch against streaking 155-pound standout Donald Cerrone. Elsewhere on the FOX-televised fight card, Nate Diaz returns to action against lightweight "Menace" Michael Johnson.
Best of all, it's free!
