Ben Henderson vs Thiago Alves targeted for main event of UFC's debut in South Korea

That works for me!

Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is gearing up to stage its first-ever mixed martial arts (MMA) event in Seoul, South Korea, which is scheduled to go down on Nov. 28, 2015, inside Olympic Gymnastics Arena.

And the promotion seems to have found its headlining act, as MMA Fighting reports that former Lightweight champion Ben Henderson is the frontrunner to take on heavy-hitting Thiago Alves in a Welterweight main event.

Good stuff.

"Smooth" made his 170-pound debut at UFC Fight Night 60 earlier this year, earning an impressive submission victory over the much larger Brandon Thatch (see it again here).

It was a much-needed win for the former 155-pound king, snapping a two-fight Lightweight losing streak. And since things are going well for him in the heavier weight class, the toothpick-loving man doesn't plan to return anytime soon.

As for Alves, he had his own plans to drop down to 155 pounds; however, those have apparently been put on hold to partake in what is sure to be a fun scrap. "Pitbull" will look to get back on the winning track after getting battered and bruised by Carlos Condit at UFC Fight Night 67.

Fighting in Korea has long been a dream for Henderson -- he is part Korean on his mother's side.

Keep it tuned to MMAmania.com as more fights are announced for the FOX Sports 1 event.
