TUF 22 Finale announced for Dec. 11 in Vegas: Joe Lauzon vs Evan Dunham, Mike Pierce vs Ryan LaFlare booked

Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

On the eve of UFC 194, which has the potential to be among the biggest in the history of the mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion, The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 22 Finale will take place somewhere nearby in Las Vegas, Nevada.

No specific venue is known at this time nor a main event, according to UFC.com, but "two bouts have already been verbally agreed to in the Welterweight and Lightweight divisions."

Joe Lauzon will collide with Evan Dunham in a 155-pound showdown, while Mike Pierce will return to the Octagon for the first time since Oct. 2013 to tangle with Ryan LaFlare.

Lauzon has won two of his three matches, most recently hurting -- and then politely finishing -- Takanori Gomi at UFC on FOX 15. Dunham, meanwhile, steered himself out of a career-worst slump to compile back-to-back wins, decisioning Ross Pearson his last time out two months ago.

Pierce has not competed since Rousimar Palhares went Brazilian berzerker on his heel, tapping way more than a trained fighter should have to tap in a sanctioned bout way back at UFC Fight Night 29.  During his time away, LaFlare won three of four bouts, dropping a decision to 170-pound contender killer, Demian Maia, earlier this year.

TUF 22 Finale bouts will be added to the card once the Team McGregor vs. Team Faber-led season, which premieres on FOX Sports 1 on Sept. 9, 2015, runs its course. The two coaches -- Conor McGregor and Urijah Faber -- are not scheduled to fight each other at the conclusion of the show like many have in the past.

Not at the time of this writing, at least.
