Gegard Mousasi vs Uriah Hall fight set for UFC Fight Night 75 in Japan with Roan Carneiro injured

Joshua Lindsey-USA TODAY Sports

In what could be considered a rare last-minute, injury-related upgrade, Uriah Hall will make a quick turnaround to fight Gegard Mousasi in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 75, which is scheduled for Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, on Sept. 26, 2015.

The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17 runner-up replaces Roan Carneiro, who was forced off the FOX Sports 1-televised card because of an undisclosed injury, according to UFC.com.

Mousasi (37-5-2) shook off a tough submission loss to Ronaldo Souza in late 2014 to win back-to-back fights against Dan Henderson and Costas Philippou. "Dreamcather" is the No. 6-ranked Middleweight in the division and always on the lookout for tough fights.

Hall just returned to the win column earlier this month thanks to a first round technical knockout finish of late-replacement -- and virtually unknown -- Oluwale Bamgbose at UFC Fight Night 73. He has won four of his last five matches, but his inconsistency is maddening when you consider his seemingly untapped talent.

It should be a better fight than the original, especially if Hall shows up to perform. That is a big "if," though.

UFC Fight Night 75 will be headlined by the Heavyweight slugfest pitting international superstar Josh Barnett opposite the heavy-handed Roy Nelson. To check out the latest UFC Fight Night 75: "Barnett vs. Nelson" fight card and rumors right now click here.
