A fun -- and mostly one-sided -- female fight opened up UFC 190's pay-per-view (PPV) event inside HSBC Arena (fallout here) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, last night (Sat., Aug. 1, 2015).

Claudia Gadelha aimed to spoil (recap here) the former World Series of Fighting (WSOF) Strawweight champion Jessica Aguilar's Octagon debut.

She did that and then some.

For much of the first round, and the remainder of their tilt, the Brazilian overwhelmed the American Top Team-trained representative with strong counter punches. In the first round, Gadelha capitalized on a tentative Aguilar, landing stinging knees and hooks. It was the accuracy of Gadelha that was on display all night.

She landed a takedown and attempted a rear-naked choke, for good measure, to close out a lopsided first frame.

In the second round, the 26-year-old Gadelha connected with more jabs, as well as a few uppercuts to bust open the nose of her counterpart Aguilar. She mixed in two takedowns throughout the round, including one to wrap up the frame.

Finally, "JAG" -- who displayed loads of grit and toughness up until round three -- seemed to battle back, perhaps sensing she needed a finish if she wanted the "W." After initially getting caught a with a wallop of a right hook, Aguilar began landing solid leg kicks.

She would continue landing the leg kicks and trading haymakers in the center of the Octagon before Gadelha capped off her unanimous-decision performance with a takedown late in round three, setting herself up for a rematch with 115-pound champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
