If you remember Mike "The Greek" Bronzoulis it's either from the Bellator MMA "Fight Master" reality series -- a show where he ultimately finished as a runner up to Joe "Diesel" Riggs -- or his more recent three-fight win streak en route to winning Legacy FC's vacant Lightweight title.
It looks as though that title will be vacant once again.
Bellator MMA needed an opponent for recent acquisition Josh "The Punk" Thomson for its "Dynamite: show on Sept. 19, 2015, in San Jose, California. And according to a recent press release from the promotion, Bronzoulis has gotten the nod to face Thomson.
Here is more on him from the release:
Bronzoulis is also a former Strikeforce competitor that most recently held the Legacy Fighting Championship lightweight belt before signing with the Scott Coker-led promotion. "The Greek Assassin" has seen action inside the Bellator MMA cage previously, following a run on "Fight Master," Bronzoulis competed in the show's finale against Joe Riggs at "Bellator 106: Chandler vs. Alvarez II." The 36-year-old returns to Bellator MMA currently riding a three-fight winning streak.
Given that Thomson is from San Jose and is well remembered for his Strikeforce tenure -- he's also a native of the area ... born and raised -- it's literally the best case scenario for increased local interest in the show, which will also include Liam McGeary defending his Light Heavyweight belt against Tito Ortiz in the main event.
