Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) interim featherweight champion Conor McGregor told the mixed martial arts (MMA) community that he was boarding the Chris Weidman hype train, though I'm sure most of us didn't expect him to sit the "All American" in the caboose.
The reigning middleweight champion is booked to throw down against top division contender Luke Rockhold on Dec. 12, 2015 inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, but he'll have to settle for co-main event status, as the "Notorious" Irishman headlines the UFC 194 pay-per-view (PPV) opposite Jose Aldo.
UFC brought word of the championship doubleheader on Thursday.
Weidman (13-0) returned from a lengthy injury layoff to beat the snot out of Brazilian banger Vitor Belfort in the UFC 187 main event last month in "Sin City." Rockhold (14-2), meanwhile, strangled Lyoto Machida on FOX to record his fourth-straight win.
As well as his fourth-straight finish.
No other bouts have been assigned to the UFC 194 fight card, but at this point, the main and co-main sell the whole damn show. Still, it will be interesting to see how "stacked" the promotion can make its annual year-end extravaganza.
Until then ... early predictions?
