Brendan Schaub: I'm too much of a man for Ronda Rousey

One of the worst-kept secrets in mixed martial arts (MMA) is the history of employee fraternization between Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight contender Brendan Schaub and reigning women's bantamweight titleholder Ronda Rousey.

Like most workplace romances, theirs crashed and burned rather spectacularly.

Not long after, Rousey went on record to plead her case for an upgrade (see those comments here), asking for a dude who can stand next to the "Rowdy" judoka and still look like a "real man." So perhaps Schaub wasn't man enough to fill those considerable shoes?

On the contrary, according to his comments on Joe Rogan's podcast (via Bloody Elbow):

"Believe me, I did her a favor man. I'm not the guy for the job. I'm just not. I'm too much (of a man). She needs a guy who's gonna take a backseat. That's not me. She also needs a guy that's gonna say 'yes ma'am, yes ma'am'. She's so successful, she's surrounded by people that worship her and go 'yes, yes, that's a great idea'. But when I said 'I don't think that's a good idea,' now I'm a hater. I have no financial gain from you. I don't need anything from you, I've earned everything myself."

One thing about "crazy" Schaub, he has no problem airing his grievances.

Understandably, Rousey is probably too busy to cultivate a new relationship as the champ -- fresh off her UFC 190 destruction of Bethe Correia in Brazil -- is already on her way to Hollywood to film her next movie role alongside Mark Wahlberg (sans Funky Bunch).

And just for the record, the position is still vacant, in case you'd like to apply for the job.
