Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) flyweight contender Kyoji Horiguchi will attempt to get back on the saddle when he faces No. 13-ranked Chico Camus at the UFC Fight Night 75 mixed martial arts (MMA) event in Saitama, Japan, on Sept. 27, 2015.
"The Supernova" was last seen submitting to an armbar by 125-pound kingpin Demetrious Johnson in the waning seconds of their UFC 186 main event back in April. Prior to the tussle, Horiguchi was riding a nine-fight win streak, which included two technical knockout finishes inside the Octagon.
His first opponent back will be former bantamweight and Roufusport representative Chico Camus. The latter scored in his 125-pound debut with a split-decision victory over veteran Brad Pickett, but followed that up with a hard-fought, unanimous decision loss to former Olympic wrestler Henry Cejudo at UFC 188 last June.
A win is imperative for both combatants as they look to stand out in the depleted flyweight division. Horiguchi and Camus also boast fan-friendly fighting styles, as they have accumulated 13 career knockout victories in total.
This, however, was not the only fight announced for the Japan card.
Throwing down overseas will also be The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 14 winner Diego Brandao, who will engage with former DEEP lightweight champion Katsunori Kikuno. Each fighter has faced their share of recent struggles and a win would bolster their resumes in a growing pool of contenders at 145 pounds.
UFC Fight Night 75 is headlined by a heavyweight battle between former PRIDE FC fighter Josh Barnett and burly veteran Roy Nelson. A co-main event pitting former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi against Brazilian jjiu-jitsu black belt Roan Carneiro solidifies the still-expanding fight card.
