Chad Mendes and Jose Aldo, two men who were once bitter rivals after back-and-forth trash talk and two head-to-head showdowns inside the Octagon, now seem to be teaming up to fend off a common enemy they share in Conor McGregor.
Aldo and Mendes exchanged tweets (see them here and here) proclaiming their respect for one another and their mutual disdain for "Notorious" ahead of UFC 189, which will see McGregor and Mendes vie for the interim featherweight title on July 11, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Naturally, during today's (Thurs., July 9, 2015) UFC 189 pre-fight press conference (video replay), McGregor had plenty to say about the budding friendship, labeling it a "pussy move" that is pulled by a man who knows his time on earth is coming to an end.
"Pussy move. That was a pussy move, coward," scoffed McGregor. "You are trying to be friendly. You're trying to be little friends with him. 'Please, can I have your fans?' That's a bitch move."
"That's what a man does when a man is close to death. When a man is close to death, that is what he looks to do, he looks to buddy up," he concluded.
Naturally, Mendes didn't sit idle and offered up a response to the fiery Irishman, saying that the exchange was nothing more than a sign of mutual respect.
"You're a pussy, dude. It's about respect," declared the wrestling powerhouse. "I knew there was going to be a bunch of Brazilian fans here. These guys want to see me destroy this dude and I am going to do it."
