Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez is looking to do something he hasn't done in over six years, and that's return to the Octagon less than four months after his last fight.
If everything goes according to plan, mixed martial arts (MMA) fans can expect to see him in action at the upcoming UFC 192 pay-per-view (PPV) event, which takes place on Oct. 3, 2015 inside the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, according to a report from UFC Tonight.
Not surprisingly, that's the same event where teammate Daniel Cormier is planning to defend his light heavyweight title against Alexander Gustafsson. The victor will likely face the winner of Rashad Evans vs. Ryan Bader, who also collide this October in "The Lone Star State" (more on that fight here).
Velasquez (13-2) returned from a lengthy injury at UFC 188 back in June, only to get submitted by Fabricio Werdum for his efforts. It was just the second loss of the former champ's career, which will probably leave him just one or two wins away from another title shot.
As for his opponent at UFC 192, that has yet to be determined.
Any suggestions?
