UFC 189 'Embedded' video blog (Ep. 5): Chad Mendes foolishly plays with fireworks, Conor McGregor catches fight feelings

We've all probably done some silly things, but Chad Mendes might have eclipsed them all in the latest episode of UFC 189 "Embedded."

After boating with several Team Alpha Male training partners, who were celebrating Fourth of July, "Money" returned home to look for some old fireworks in his shed. He found them, floated the idea of dumping them all in a bucket and dousing them with gasoline, before settling for a mangled mess of unpredictable, old gunpowder.

Hey, at least he used a long lighter!

With the monster shake up to the pay-per-view (PPV) event, which takes place this Saturday night (July 11, 2015) at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, still a fresh wound, Dana White and Co. must be thanking their lucky stars Mendes didn't pull a Jason Pierre Paul (read more here).

His opponent, Conor McGregor, opted for safer entertainment -- watching the various firework shows from the comfort and safety of his "MacMansion." The Irishman has dialed down his training, too, explaining that he preparation is now more about "feeling" rather than intense sparring, a veiled shot perhaps injured Featherweight champion, Jose Aldo.

Deep breath, fight fans, we're one day closer to showtime. But, it might be time for UFC to invest in bubbles for these two 145-pound standouts.
