Conor McGregor to UFC: You don't hold an event in Ireland without me on it

After all, it was "Notorious" who built UFC in his homeland.

Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is gearing up for its return to Dublin, Ireland, which is tentatively set as a "Fight Night" mixed martial arts (MMA) event inside the 3Arena -- formerly known as the O2 -- on Oct. 24, 2015.

Full details here.

So what are the chances the world's largest mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion goes back to Ireland without Conor McGregor?

Slim to none, according to "Notorious," as he declared during a recent media conference call that there is no way in the world that UFC goes back to his home town without having him on the card.

"I spoke with Lorenzo a few days go about it. He was trying to say, 'We want bigger stadiums.' The O2 is a 9,000 seat stadium, so he wants a bigger one. And I'm saying that you don't have a show in my hometown and not have me on it. So, most certainly want to be on that card. So, we will see how it plays out. But, anytime UFC rolls into my town, I definitely want on that card."

After all, says McGregor, he single-handedly  put UFC on the map in Ireland.

"Yes we want to do a stadium show. But, if you are coming back to my city, I want to be on that card. I built this here. I am the one that put UFC on the map here. So, if your going into my hometown, you best believe I want on the show."

First things first, though, as Conor will face Chad Mendes in the main event of UFC 189 on July 11, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada for the interim featherweight title.

Thanks, Jose.

If all goes in the favor of Conor, UFC president Dana White already revealed that his first title defense would be in Ireland at famed Croke Park. And wouldn't you know it, Jose Aldo is tentatively scheduled to make his Octagon return in October.

And judging by this, there is no way McGregor doesn't find himself headlining that event, with, or without the title.
