As the time and place for WSOF 22: "Palhares vs. Shields" draws near, namely the Planet Hollywood Casino & Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, on August 1, 2015, a major change for World Series of Fighting (WSOF) has been revealed.

Effective immediately, Carlos Silva -- former President and Chief Operating Officer of both Universal Sports Network and Back9Network -- will serve as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in charge of WSOF. He'll work in conjunction with President Ray Sefo and Vice President Ali Abdel-Aziz to continue to bring growth and quality fights to the promotion.

"I am excited to join one of the premier and most dynamic combat sports franchises on the planet in World Series of Fighting," Silva said. "They have a tremendous team of media and MMA industry veterans in place that works well with the blue-chip team at NBCU, our television partner that is helping us usher the company into its next chapter of growth."

Silva arrives in time for one of the promotion's most important cards of 2015, as welterweight champion Rousimar Palhares defends his title against top contender Jake Shields, while bantamweight champion Marlon Moraes puts his belt on the line against Sheymon Moraes.

WSOF touts an extensive track record of successes in hiring Silva as CEO, including his former role as a Senior Vice President of AOL Time Warner, and his current role on the board at sports investment bank PARK LANE.
