Video: Extended CM Punk interview talks UFC debut, drop to welterweight, and more

New, 7 comments

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is in Chicago for tomorrow night's (Sat., July 25, 2015) UFC on FOX 16 event and since CM Punk lives in "The Windy City" -- when he's not shacked up in Milwaukee training under Duke Roufus -- FOX analyst Ariel Helwani made it a point to stop by and say hello.

And he somehow got 45 minutes from the "UFC fighter," which sounds like a strange thing to call someone who has never stepped foot inside the Octagon but okay, I'll play along.

After all, he's a phenomenal stud!

Some of the topics include Punk's welterweight debut, which is expected to come in late 2015 or early 2016, wanting to share a pay-per-view (PPV) card with Ronda Rousey or Conor McGregor, competing in Chicago for his second fight, and being called "CM Punk" instead of Phil Brooks.

Punk signed with the world's largest mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion last November and continues to make the media rounds. Case in point, he will be hosting the UFC on FOX 16 fan Q&A later today, just as soon as the "Dillashaw vs. Barao 2" weigh ins wrap.
