Though the road to the "best ever" was long and arduous, the end result surely left many mixed martial arts (MMA) fans satisfied.
From top to bottom, the UFC 189 card was gold and it was capped off with an interim featherweight title scrap between jawing hot heads Conor McGregor and Chad Mendes. Relive their epic main event clash by watching both men trade spinning back kicks and hooks in super slow motion.
Then appreciate the war that was waged between two stalwarts of the 170-pound division, Robbie Lawler and Rory MacDonald. In what was easily a candidate for "Fight of the Year," "Ruthless" and "Red King" put on a performance for the ages, trading jabs, kicks and elbows.
Yikes, now we really get a good look at how mashed up the face of MacDonald was! At least he was visited in the hospital by Lawler, who offered up the hellacious face smashing.
