Bellator MMA inks Titan FC heavyweight champion Chase Gormley

A former UFC prospect who reinvented himself on the independent circuit and won gold in Titan FC is now on a quest for Bellator's heavyweight title.

Titan FC Heavyweight Champion Chase Gormley is taking the next step in his combat sports career, and it appears that will involve relinquishing the title he just won in March of this year at Titan FC 33.

If the name sounds familiar, you may remember him from a two-fight stint in UFC. He came in as an undefeated (6-0) heavyweight prospect, but after back-to-back losses to Stefan Struve at UFC 104 and Brendan Schaub at UFC on Versus 1, ZUFFA and Gormley promptly parted ways.

The Reign MMA fighter struggled for a little bit following that stint, but has come on strong in the last few years to amass a five-fight win streak, including the aforementioned Titan FC title victory. He now stands 12-4 (1 NC) and is the newest addition to the Bellator MMA heavyweight roster.

Gormley offered these comments:

"I'm ecstatic to have the opportunity to compete for Bellator MMA with Scott Coker at the helm. I can't think of a better way to show that I am one of the best heavyweights in the world than here, and with a platform like Spike, it won't be long before everyone knows my name."

He'll have some tough competition ahead with the likes of Cheick Kongo, Bobby Lashley, and Ewerton Teixeira all battling to be the top dog and get a crack at Vitaly Minakov's heavyweight title.
