"Irish Joe" Duffy showcased his ground game at UFC Fight Night 72 and picked up his second win in as many fights in the UFC.
Duffy--the last fighter to defeat Conor McGregor-- submitted Ivan Jorge in the first round via armbar earlier today (Sat. July 18, 2015) inside The SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland, to pick up his fourteenth career victory.
After the opening two minutes of the opening round, Jorge would score a takedown, but before he could do anything on the ground, Duffy was able to deftly maneuver and lock up a triangle choke on the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt moments later to force the tap.
Referee Neil Hall stopped the action at the 3:05 mark.
That is the ninth submission win for the Irish lightweight and his second win in UFC. The 27-year-old out of Tristar gym has looked promising in both of his UFC victories and is now on a four-fight win streak.
On the flip side, Jorge drops to 26-5 and is now 1-2 in UFC.
