Fresh off perhaps the most disappointing loss of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career, No. 1-ranked Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight contender, Anthony Johnson, will look to rebound at the expense of Jan Błachowicz at UFC 191, which will go down inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Sept. 5, 2015.
The announcement was made during the broadcast of UFC Fight Night 71 on FOX Sports 1.
Johnson, of course, most recently competed for the 205-pound crown that former division champion Jon Jones was forced to vacate, falling to Daniel Cormier at UFC 187 two months ago via third-round rear-naked choke submission. Prior to the defeat, "Rumble" had reeled of nine straight MMA wins.
Błachowicz is a bit of an unknown and, accordingly, an odd choice to fight Johnson.
Regardless, the Polish fighter -- and former KSW champion -- is even (1-1) in UFC competition. The No. 12-ranked UFC Light Heavyweight stopped Ilir Latifi via technical knockout in his Octagon debut back in Oct. 2014, but then dropped a unanimous decision to Jimi Manuwa this past April.
It's certainly an enormous opportunity for Błachowicz to launch himself into the Top 10 rankings. If Johnson doesn't launch him into the first row, first, of course.
UFC 191 features a main event between Flyweight champion, Demetrious Johnson, taking on John Dodson for a second time, as well as up-and-coming women's Strawweight star, Paige VanZant, colliding with Alex Chambers.
