California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) tested 16 fighters -- out of competition -- for the upcoming UFC Fight Night 71 mixed martial arts (MMA) event on FOX Sports 1, which takes place tomorrow night (Weds., July 15, 2015) inside Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California.

Everyone passed with flying colors, according to MMA Fighting, including Gilbert Melendez.

Unfortunately for "El Nino," he was already yanked from the "Golden State" line up after flunking his UFC 188 drug test. In a prepared statement (read it), Melendez denied injecting anything and suggested a nutritional supplement was responsible for the result.

Sounds preposterous, when you consider that scenario would have required the former champ -- in the fight game for well over a decade -- to be ignorant of its ingredients.

CSAC, supplemented by this new policy, vows to re-test everyone on fight night.

UFC Fight Night 71 will be headlined by a heavyweight feature fight pitting old school vs. new, as former division champion Frank Mir tangles with the streaking Todd Duffee. Elsewhere on the card, Tony Ferguson collides with Josh Thomson in lightweight action.
