Bellator 140: Brennan Ward vs Roger Carroll last-minute fight card change

Bellator MMA

Just a few days ahead of Bellator 140: "Lima vs. Koreshkov," which takes place this Friday night (July 17, 2015) from Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn., the Spike TV-televised main card has received a major change.

Brennan Ward was originally scheduled to face "War Horse" Gavin Sterritt as one of the featured Welterweight bouts on the main card. Today Bellator MMA announced that Sterritt withdrew from the bout and was cut from Bellator MMA roster as a result.

Stepping up on very short notice to take Sterritt's place is Roger "The Leprechaun" Carroll, who has six more wins on his record than "Irish Bad Boy" (as well as eight more losses). The 16-11 fighter is billed as a Middleweight, so he has between now and this Thursday to get down to 170 pounds.

Carroll's most notable career win to date was an armbar submission against Clint "Headbussa" Hester back in 2010. He's on a three-fight win streak coming in to face Ward, but suffered recent losses to both Dhiego Lima and Chuck O'Neil.

The new bout rounds out a five fight main card headlined by Douglas Lima defending his 170-pound title against Andrey Koreshkov. Also in Spike TV action: Chris Honeycutt vs. Paul Bradley, Michael "Venom" Page vs. Rudy Bears, and Paul "Semtex" Daley vs. Dennis Olson.
