It was a dream four years in the making as nine-year-old cancer survivor Maddux Maple got to walk out with his idol Cody Garbrandt at UFC 189 (watch that video replay here) last night.
"It was a roller coaster the past four and a half years watching this young man battle for his life, and how optimistic he was and his dream to walk into the cage, me making it here and his cancer... it was a very emotional day," Garbrandt told UFC on Fox's Ariel Helwani. I had a great day with him, I spent the whole day waiting to live out the dream we waited four years to do and I can't be more thankful to come out here and fight and be with him and get a win for him."
Awesome stuff.
Garbrandt picked up his second win inside the Octagon with a victory over Mexico's Henry Briones to improve to 6-0 as a professional. For a recap of that fight click here.
