UFC 'Embedded' video blog (Ep. 9): Conor McGregor tangles with Urijah Faber backstage, Chad Mendes on the biggest weigh-in stage ever

UFC 189 headliners Chad Mendes and Conor McGregor go through last-minute preparations and make weight for their looming interim featherweight title clash inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada TONIGHT! (Sat. July 11, 2015)

Believe it or not, the world's best mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters do take some downtime away from sparring, wrestling or rolling on the mats.

Such was the case with the Liquid Pool Party at Aria Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, as part of UFC Fight Week, where notable names like Luke Rockhold, Tyron Woodley and Joseph Benavidez could be seen enjoying the good vibes and having fun.

Interim Featherweight title challengers Chad Mendes and Conor McGregor were nowhere to be found, though. Probably because they are preparing for the biggest, most heavily-hyped Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) card in recent memory.

UFC 189 takes place tonight (Sat. July 11, 2015) -- find out start times and where to watch it here -- and the headliner features the aforementioned "Money" and "Notorious" slugging it out for the right to challenge injured champion Jose Aldo once the latter is healed and ready to fight.

Early-on in the video preview, fight fans get an inside look into what kind of role McGregor's girlfriend Dee Devlin plays in getting her boisterous boyfriend prepared for the most important fight of his career.

Later, the fighters, including welterweight No. 1 contender Rory MacDonald, check their weights inside MGM Grand Garden Arena to make sure they are on track for their looming title matches, while the Dublinator gets involved in a somewhat light-hearted skirmish with Mendes' teammate Urijah Faber.

We wrap up the last of the 'Embedded' episodes with the largest weigh-in, pro-Irish crowd configured for a UFC event gathering to see (mostly) McGregor himself make weight (possibly) hoist gold tonight.
