Things got a little heated before the weigh-ins, creating a situation that could have been potentially devastating for the main event at UFC 189 happening tomorrow (July 11) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Apparently it was just some light-hearted banter that almost got out of control -- Faber is a good friend and training partner of Chad Mendes. He apparently suggested McGregor was a bit skinny after the Irishman suggested he was short by tapping him on the head.
As witness RJ Clifford described it:
Conor McGregor and Urijah Faber got into it backstage about 30 minutes ago. Started playful, then tempers flared. Broken up immediately.

Well, that's a relief. Wouldn't want anything to jeopardize what's shaping up to be one of the biggest fights in UFC history. For those who watched the weigh-ins (replay here and staredowns here) you know that McGregor and Mendes did not play nice when they faced off against one another afterward.
ONE MORE SLEEP, PEOPLE!
