I don't want to be that guy, but remember when Marina Shafir said she could beat reigning Invicta FC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg?
"I believe I will eventually have that fight and I believe I will beat her," Shafir told MMA Fighting. "But I have to make everyone else believe that. That's just part of the journey."
Shafir, one quarter of the "Four Horsewomen" -- which consists of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, Jessamyn Duke, and Shayna Baszler -- won all five of her amateur fights by way of first-round submission (four via armbar).
Since turning pro, she's just 1-2 and is now riding back-to-back knockout losses. In addition to getting worked by Amber Leibrock at Invicta FC 13 last night in Las Vegas (more on that here), "The Supernova from Maldova" was crushed by Amanda Bell last August.
Too early to panic?
