When Zack Mwekassa fights you always know there is a good chance someone's head may get knocked clean off. At GLORY 22 this afternoon (Sat., June 5, 2015), it was Carlos Brooks who met the guillotine of the Congolese fighter's devastating left hook, which ended his evening in the first round.
"The Black Warrior" landed a left hook earlier in the round that sent the former Chuck Norris WCL fighter reeling into the ropes and it was ruled a knockdown. Brooks would beat the count and Mwekassa would hit him with another thunderous left hook that wobbled the New Yorker. Before Brooks would get his bearings, Mwekassa connected with the last left hook which sent the GLORY newcomer flat on his back. The ref would call it at the 1:58 mark of the first round.

WIth the victory, the former WBF intercontinental cruiserweight champion improves to 13-2 and 3-1 in GLORY competition. Mwekassa spent the last few weeks of his fight camp at Hemmers gym in Holland, stepping away from the unrest caused by xenophobic violence in South Africa during the month of April, not far from his home in Johannesburg.
The win over Brooks is his first since losing in the GLORY 18 tournament final to Saulo Cavalari back in November. All three of his victories have come by way of knockout.
