Dan Henderson proved to the mixed martial arts (MMA) world -- and himself -- that he can still hang inside the Octagon by knocking out Tim Boetsch in just 28 seconds a few weeks back at UFC Fight Night 68.
Now, the 44-year-old legend looks to get some revenge on two previous opponents, as he revealed on The MMA Hour that he would love to get do-overs against Vitor Belfort and Gegard Mousasi. But if and when he gets a rubber match against "The Phenom," Henderson says he wants it to take place in the United States and not in Brazil, where he suffered a first-round TKO loss to Belfort in late 2013.
That's because "Hendo" doesn't want to give Vitor any added advantage.
"The two guys I'd like to fight, I guess, would be Vitor and Mousasi. Mousasi, if not for any other reason other than I felt that I didn't get to fight him. And Vitor, yeah, it would be nice to fight him in the states without his doctor as the head of the athletic commission."
Burn.
Henderson fought Belfort in late 2013 while the Brazilian was on the now-outlawed testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). And coincidentally enough, Belfort's torrid win streak finally came to an end at the hands of Chris Weidman at UFC 187 (see it), in his first fight post-TRT.
And the fact that Vitor looked physically different last month wasn't something lost on Henderson.
"Yeah, physically he looked quite a bit different. His stamina went away pretty quick, as well. You know, I'm sure he works hard, but so do I. My body hasn't changed in 10 years. I'm not exactly sure what's making his body change like that, but it isn't the same thing I was doing."
Of course, when Henderson fought Belfort in Brazil, the fight took place in the light heavyweight division, so there's that.
Should a trilogy fight against "The Phenom" not come to fruition, Henderson says he'd love to get one back against Gegard Mousasi, as their initial encounter ended in a little over a minute at UFC on FOX 14 earlier this year (highlights).
One fight he isn't interested in, is against Tim Kennedy, as the former PRIDE FC star says accepting Tim's challenge wouldn't be something that would get fans excited, based solely on a clash of different styles. Neither would another tango against Michael Bisping.
Anyone disagree?
