We may have the winner for "Comeback of the Year" ladies and gentleman.
In the co-main event of Bellator 138 tonight (Fri., June 19, 2015) live on Spike TV from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri, Patricio Freire defended his title against Daniel Weichel in incredibly dramatic fashion.
"Pitbull" came out much more timid than usual, giving Weichel a ton of respect inside the cage. Fans soon found out why of course, as the German native blasted the Bellator champ with a vicious barrage of punches that had Patricio in all sorts of trouble.

Just when it seemed as if Weichel was going to knock out the Brazilian and earn the Bellator strap, the bell rung and saved "Pitbull" from losing his consciousness.
Obviously still dazed from the savage beating he took late in the first, Patricio struggled to get off early in the second and Weichel came at him very aggressively.
After getting hurt again, the champ threw his patented left hook, knocking out Weichel cold in a stunning turn of events.

Talk about a comeback!
With Daniel Straus picking up a victory earlier in the evening, we can probably expect to see the two men engage in a trilogy fight sometime in the near future.
