U.S. visa issues force shuffle of upcoming UFC cards

A computer hardware problem that has caused chaos for thousands of foreigners trying to enter and leave the United States has also affected the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), forcing a change to two of its upcoming fight cards.

The UFC Fight Night 70 card, scheduled for June 27, was moved from Sao Paulo, Brazil to Hollywood, Fla., but several Brazilian fighters won't be able to make the trip due to visa issues. That includes the four "TUF Brazil 4" finalists.

Instead, those fighters will be moved to UFC 190, set for Aug. 1 in Rio de Janeiro. Although the reality TV show is still being aired on Fight Pass, we know that the bantamweight division finalists will be Dileno Lopes against the winner of the upcoming Reginaldo Vieira vs. Bruno Rodrigues fight. Meanwhile, lightweight Glaico Franca will face off against the winner of Nazareno Malegarie vs. Fernando Bruno for the crown at that weight class.

The changes to the bouts were confirmed via a report by the Brazilian website Combate.

As a result, the exciting co-main event between Erick Silva and Rick Story was pulled from UFC Fight Night 70, to be replaced by Antonio Carlos Jr. against Eddie Gordon. Marcos Rogerio de Lima vs. Nikita Krylov could also be cancelled due to visa issues.

However, the UFC has added a handful of bouts to the Hollywood card including Alex Oliveira -- who comes off a big win against K.J. Noons -- taking on 6-0 newcomer Joe Merritt. Meanwhile, Leandro Silva will face Lewis Gonzalez. TUF 21 contestant Steve "The Creepy Weasel" Montgomery also got the call to the big show, as he will take on fellow UFC debutant Tony Sims. Thiago Santos vs. Steve Bosse will continue on schedule as the Brazilian is already in the U.S.
