Mixed martial arts (MMA) fans have been spoiled.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight No. 1 contender, Donald Cerrone, is perhaps the most active fighter on the ZUFFA roster, competing a staggering 10 times over the past two years. Unfortunately, that pace will come to a screeching halt.
By order of UFC President Dana White.
That's because "Cowboy" is next in line for a lightweight title shot, whether he likes it or not, and can't run the risk of getting hurt or even worse, losing a fight while reigning division kingpin Rafael dos Anjos recovers from knee surgery (more on that here).
UFC Tonight confirmed the plans last Wednesday night.
That explains why Michael Johnson was denied the chance to dance with Cerrone, who has eight straight wins with five brutal finishes. "The Menace" moves on to face Beneil Dariush, while "Cowboy" returns to his mobile home to do something crazy, I'm sure.
