Roll one up! Emanuel Newton admits to smoking weed before Bellator 134

Could Emanuel Newton have been off his game because he was on the pot pipe? A surprising confession from Bellator's former Light Heavyweight champion about his pre-fight activities before facing Liam McGeary.

Cypress Hill would approve. So, too, would Wiz Khalifa. The Mohegan Tribe Department of Athletic Regulation (MDAR) does not.

Emanuel Newton flat out admitted to smoking weed, according to FightBookMMA.com, "like days before" Bellator 134, which took place Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., on Feb. 27, 2015.

The revelation confirms what the MDAR had already disclosed: Newton tested positive for marijuana after Bellator 134 and has been slapped with a three-month suspension.

Newton explains:

"Obviously, everyone just saw that I just tested positive for marijuana after my last fight. I was smoking like three days out before that fight. It was not very smart and I thought I had everything under control. It just goes to show that I can train two weeks for a fight, smoke weed, and still go out there and fight five rounds and still win fights."

Except, of course, Newton didn't win.

What's next for "Hardcore Kid?" Assuming commission reciprocity, Newton is out of action anywhere in North America for the next 60 to 90 days. Meanwhile, new contenders will step up to face McGeary, the promotion's latest 205-pound champion.

"Mr. Wonderful" would definitely like a piece of that action.
