As promised, Brad Pickett is headed back to the bantamweight division.
In doing so, he's been asked to throw down against undefeated prospect Thomas Almeida at the upcoming UFC 189: "Aldo vs. McGregor" pay-per-view (PPV) event, which takes place on July 11, 2015 inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
UFC announced the pairing on Monday.
Pickett (24-10) moved down to the flyweight division to try to make a run at the 125-pound title. Unfortunately, all he did was chase people around for 15 minutes each fight (his words). Perhaps his return to bantamweight will also restore his "One Punch" nickname.
But it won't be easy.
Almeida (18-0) has been unstoppable thus far in his relatively short mixed martial arts (MMA) career. Just 23-years-old, "Thominas" has already accumulated 17 finishes, including a technical knockout win over longtime veteran Yves Jabouin at UFC 186 last month in Montreal.
Keep your eye on this kid.
The stacked UFC 189 championship doubleheader features reigning featherweight champion Jose Aldo battling division No. 1 contender Conor McGregor, while Robbie Lawler puts his welterweight title on the line against 170-pound wunderkind Rory MacDonald.
