Invicta FC featherweight champ Cris "Cyborg" Justino may be under an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) contract, but the former Strikeforce titleholder has one more planned fight in the all women's organization before attempting to drop down to the bantamweight division in order to square off with Ronda Rousey.
The UFC champ has made it known she is more than willing to fight Cyborg, but only if the bout is contested at 135 pounds, which has proved to be an issue for the Brazilian before.
Making an appearance on UFC Tonight earlier this week, Cyborg made it seem she was confident she could make the bantamweight limit, only to backtrack minutes later when offered up the chance to make her case for a 140 pound catchweight.
Her words:
"I have a professional nutritional guy and he helped me much easier to make 145. I can 100 percent make [135]. I'm ready for this fight. When she was in Strikeforce, I wanted to make the fight. I try 100 percent to make 135. It's annoying. I want to fight [Ronda]...
"All fighters want to be a champ in the UFC. I think for now it'd be great to see me and Ronda fight. I don't want her belt. I just want to fight her. Let's go fight. Let's go meet at 140. Let's do it."
Where have we heard this before...
Sorry Cyborg, but only Gina Carano and Laila Ali get to fight "Rowdy" heavier!
Hopefully the Brazilian's nutritionist is the next Mike Dolce, or fight fans may never see Rousey take on her Brazilian foe.
Except at UFC 190, of course.
