Chris Weidman grabbed the microphone from Joe Rogan in the moments following his beat down of Vitor Belfort at UFC 187 (watch it), and told every mixed martial arts (MMA) fan who witnessed last Saturday night's (May 23, 2015) pay-per-view (PPV) title defense, which took place inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, to "join the team."
"Hey, stop doubting me," Weidman shouted after the fight. "It's enough. Stop doubting me. You better join the team now. This is my last invitation. Join the team."
UFC featherweight No. 1 contender Conor McGregor got the message, loud and clear.
In fact, "Notorious" declared his allegiance to the "All American" champion in the backstage video above, which not coincidentally, allowed a sneaky Luke Rockhold to move in on Weidman's parents, a cunning move by the American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) fighter, considering what could lie ahead.
