Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) faced the pain inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena last Saturday night (May 23, 2015), thanks to a stacked pay-per-view (PPV) mixed martial arts (MMA) event from the promotion's home base of Las Vegas, Nevada.
"Johnson vs. Cormier" crowned a new light heavyweight kingpin after Daniel Cormier survived a couple of bombs from Anthony Johnson, who was so exhausted by the end of the second stanza, he was unable to prevent getting choked out by "DC" in round three (replay).
That's not all.
The UFC middleweight title was up for grabs in the championship co-main event, but the fast hands of "The Phenom" were not enough to sink the "All American" ship. Instead, Chris Weidman retained his 185-pound title with some brutal ground-and-pound over Vitor Belfort in the first frame.
Relive the drama here.
