Perhaps the craziest Heavyweight fight in the history of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was the ridiculous scrap between Cheick Kongo and Pat Barry back in June 2011, which ended with "HD" out cold after he nearly killed the Parisian (watch insane .gif here).
That memorable fight now has some stiff competition thanks to Andrei Arlovski and Travis Browne, who collided last night (Sat., May 23, 2015) at UFC 187 inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Arlovski had Browne in big trouble early, but the hulking Hawaiian managed to battle back despite being terribly compromised. "Pitbull" continued to pour on the pressure, sensing that he had his good friend and former training partner on the ropes.
But then, in a furious exchange, Arlovski got a little too loose and Browne made him pay, dropping him to his knees with a clean cross. Browne could not capitalize, though, as Arlovski got back to his feet and began to fire back.
And fire back he did, drilling "Hapa" along the cage mercilessly -- it's amazing he was able to remain upright. In fact, it was pretty clear that Browne was out on his feet, compelling the referee to waive off the fight with less than 20 seconds remaining in round one.
Epic. And worth well more than a $50,000 "Fight of the Night" bonus.
