With the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight division on hold (thanks to this), former Strikeforce 185-pound champion Ronaldo Souza opted to have surgery on his left knee to repair meniscus damage suffered in his most recent win over Chris Camozzi, according to a report from UFC Tonight.
Sorry Mr. Romero, you had your chance.
When he returns, likely in September, "Jacare" wants to fight the winner of Chris Weidman vs. Vitor Belfort, who co-headline the UFC 187 pay-per-view (PPV) event this Saturday night (May 23, 2015) in Las Vegas, Nevada, with the "All American's" strap on the line.
If not, he'll settle for a title eliminator against former nemesis Luke Rockhold.
That could be a problem for the Brazilian if Rockhold gets the next crack at the crown, leaving Souza with the option to keep waiting or take another fight in the interim. As it stands, the grappling wizard is the winner of eight straight with seven nasty finishes.
How about it, fight fans, where does "Jacare" fit in the 185-pound title hunt?
