Head games! Mayweather claims Pacquiao's gloves are illegal, but NSAC shoots down 'Money'

And the circus continues ...

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

At the highest level of combat sports, any small advantage can earn you the victory come fight night.

That is the reason it should come as no surprise that undefeated world champion Boxer Floyd Mayweather and his team are doing everything in their power to stir up some controversy prior to tonight's (Sat., May 2, 2015) massive "Fight of the Century" pay-per-view (PPV) featuring "Money" taking on his longtime rival Manny Pacquiao.

Mayweather's team already asked Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) to ensure "Pacman's" cup was up to snuff, and just hours before the PPV, "Money's" team was shot down by NSAC when they claimed Pacquiao's gloves were illegal, too.

Here's the report from ESPN:

"Shortly after Friday's weigh-in at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Pacquiao's camp was informed by the commission that Mayweather's representatives contested the use of Pacquiao's preferred Reyes-manufactured boxing gloves.... According to those close to the situation, a contract exists between the two camps that states Mayweather will wear Grant-manufactured gloves, Pacquiao will wear Reyes gloves and neither set can be horse-hair-style boxing gloves. It's common for the inside padding of boxing gloves to be made from horse hair, foam or a combination of both."

Horse hair?

So maybe Mayweather's team has won the mental warfare, but the real battle will go down tonight, and all bets are off!

Except these of course.

MMAmania.com will deliver LIVE round-by-round coverage of "Mayweather vs. Pacquiao" TONIGHT, starting with the pay-per-view (PPV) broadcast at 9 p.m. ET RIGHT HERE.
