Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight kingpin Jose Aldo will defend his 145-pound strap against No. 1 title contender Conor McGregor at UFC 189 on July 11 in Las Vegas, in what is already being billed as the biggest fight in the history of the division.
The second biggest? May very well be Frankie Edgar vs. Urijah Faber.
And if "The Answer" manages to get by "The California Kid" and his "savvy submissions," don't be surprised to see the former lightweight champion challenging for the 145-pound title -- again -- by the end of the year.
"I think me and him are pretty similar, actually. We come from a wrestling background, we're willing to throw on the feet. I think he's maybe a little more savvy with the submissions, or at least has more submissions than I do. But you see me coming out with some submissions myself. So we are kind of similar in a lot of ways. I get to put on a show, first fight in the Philippines for UFC so there is a lot on the plate. It's nice that they trust in me to go out there and represent their company and put on a good show for the fans; especially the new fans. I am grateful that I get to go to these places and see different places. I do believe I take care of business on May 16, and I'm the guy that will fight the winner of Aldo and McGregor."
Easier said than done.
Edgar and Faber will headline the UFC Fight Night 66 mixed martial arts (MMA) event on FOX Sports 1 (results here), which takes place this Saturday (May 16, 2015) inside SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, Philippines.
