Not a loophole! Sam Alvey's perfect tan sponsor apparently was 'against UFC policy'

Sorry Reebok...

Jason da Silva-USA TODAY Sports

We can't discredit Sam Alvey for trying, but "Smile'n" certainly did not leave Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) brass very happy following his "Perfect Tan" sponsor on his chest (pic here) during his UFC Fight Night 65 battle against Dan Kelly last night (Sat., May 9, 2015) in Adelaide, Australia.

Apparently, the potential loophole is against UFC policy, as Tom Wright -- a UFC executive -- noted at the post-fight press conference (replay here).

His words:

"Fighters definitely can't do that. It's against our policy. You can put your sponsors on your shorts. You can put your sponsors on your shorts, you can put your sponsors on your banner, but you can't put your sponsors on your body. We didn't see it until before the fight. We tried to do something to remove it. It was unremovable. But we've spoken to Sam and he understands the situation. I guarantee it won't happen again."

At least the event was a Fight Pass exclusive and not on FOX!

Alvey wasn't punished for the incident, because how in the world could you reprimand such a nice guy!?

Speaking with Submission Radio following his knockout win, Alvey apologized for his perfect tan.

"Yeah I had "Perfect Tan" on my chest. You know, I'm the most pale fighter in the UFC. I thought it was hilarious, the UFC did not, or maybe the commission didn't of Adelaide; either way I'm incredibly sorry. I didn't mean to break any rules. I swear it was not greasy. It was literally just a spray tan that said "Perfect Tan" on the guy who is not perfectly tanned. I didn't know I wasn't allowed to do it. It was in the bi-lines, I just missed that one when I signed. So it'll never happen again I swear, but yeah it was unfortunate."
