It was ugly.
There was no shortage of action in the main event between Stipe Miocic vs. Mark Hunt last night (Sat., May 9, 2015) at UFC Fight 65, which took place inside Adelaide Entertainment Centre in Adelaide, Australia. Unfortunately, it was all at the expense of "Super Samoan."
Hunt, 42, simply had no answers for the much younger and in-shape Miocic, who danced circles around the Kiwi and took him down at-will -- and pummeled him -- for 4.5 rounds. Things got real bad for Hunt in round three; however, the referee -- perhaps aware of his inhuman threshold to absorb punishment -- let the Heavyweight match continue for about eight more minutes.
It was ultimately unnecessary.
An exasperated Miocic kept firing away, relentless, as Hunt mustered zero offense and next to little defense as the fight progressed. Miocic would eventually earn a technical knockout in round five, setting himself up nice for another big fight that can inch him closer to No. 1 contender status. Hunt, meanwhile, might want to consider mixed martial arts (MMA) retirement.
It was hard to watch him get so thoroughly trashed (see a disturbing pic here).
