Nate Diaz says he's fighting Anthony Pettis, claims UFC booked Matt Brown fight without asking

Gun jumping alert!

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Longtime lightweight standout Nate Diaz is expected to fight Matt Brown in a welterweight scrap at the upcoming UFC 189 pay-per-view (PPV) event, recently announced for July 11, 2015 inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada (more on that here).

Too bad nobody told Diaz.

According to the former 155-pound No. 1 contender, he's fighting ex-division kingpin Anthony Pettis, who is no stranger to beef with the 209 squad, and also claims UFC booked the "Immortal" showdown without any sort of negotiating prior to yesterday's announcement.

From his conversation with MMA Fighting:

"We were supposed to meet with the UFC next Monday to get my next fight figured out, but then they busted out the Matt Brown fight. I thought I was fighting Anthony Pettis next. He's trying to fight me and I'm trying to fight him. I'm open to the Brown fight -- I said I wanted to fight him last year -- but I don't like that they made the fight official before we ever negotiated or agreed to it."

What would a Diaz fight be without a little drama?

After all, there was "no way in the world" they were going to make the Brown fight, remember? So how about it, fight fans, would you rather see him fight Pettis, if and when "Showtime" is available?
